EATS EVERYTHING AND THE HISTORY OF RAVE BRAND

Bristol-born Dan Pearce, better known as Eats Everything, is a heavyweight in every sense of the word. A master of bass-heavy beats and infectious grooves, he has become a global sensation, dropping seismic sets at legendary clubs like DC-10, Fabric, and beyond. Whether it’s his genre-blurring productions or his boundless energy behind the decks, Eats Everything is all about one thing: uniting dancefloors under a banner of pure, unadulterated fun.

Dan is a long term friend of Hey! What? and we've been doing design and animation for a number of years including as helping establish his 'History of Rave' brand and artwork for many of his latest releases.

History of Rave started off in Glastonbury 2022 with road block event at the legendary Stonebridge Bar. The concept, which now tours globally, has seen a smorgasbord of some of the biggest names in dance music take to the stage including Fatboy Slim, Roger Sanchez, Arielle Free and Goldie.

More recently, we've produced a music visualiser animation for his remix of Diana Ross' hit 'Upside Down'.

  • THE CHALLENGE: MAKE IT FUN

We reviewed the previous years festivals key visuals and they didn’t have the flex to feel like a festival brand. We agreed with Beacon that longevity and consistency to the festival needed a broad appeal for kids aged 3-9.

We set out to transform the festival’s identity by crafting a brand that was brimming with personality and character.

THE OUTCOME: BURSTING WITH FUN TOO MUCH FUN AAHHH FUN FUN FUN

Our creative approach centred around designing a lively troupe of charismatic characters, each symbolising a different aspect of the festival's offerings. From music and dance to art and play, these characters became the heart of the Hoo-Ha! identity, making the festival’s spirit tangible and relatable.

We brought these characters to life with a touch of animation that was used across socials and digital screens throughout the venue.

The new logo lockup builds on the Bristol Beacon brand font, reimagined for the festival with a compact, kid-friendly design that prioritises clarity and legibility. Paired with vibrant colours, dynamic shapes, and playful typography, the rebrand ensures Hoo-Ha! feels as joyful and energetic as the festival itself.

The result? A reimagined identity that doesn’t just welcome families back – it invites them to dive headfirst into a world of fun.

A 'STRANGER' BRIEF FOR EATS EVERYTHING'S DIANA ROSS MUSIC VISUALISER

Occasionally we get a bit of an unusual brief from a client. This one is definitely up there with one of the strangest. We do know it was written by Eats Everything and sent to his agent via WhatsApp at 3.41am so that explains a lot.

"Stranger Things theme but everything is really nice instead of really minging. Imagine as if it is a scene from Stranger Things in Studio 54. The upside down world of Studio 54. Having it almost surreal and dreamlike without going too far into nightmares. Maybe using an upside down disco ball with the crowd above it as the focal point."

We took this brief by the reins, turned it around in a week and threw in a horse for good measure. Because you know, that makes sense.

The team at Hey! What? ‘s exceptional professionalism is only exceeded by their remarkable design and animation work. Their unique and breathtaking designs tailored to our given brief display not only their creative synergy as a team but their versatility as designers. It has been a pleasure working with them and I hope this will not be the last time we do business.
